While most of Middle School was off to C.I.M.I., the few students who stayed behind had some fun in the Computer Lab creating a web site that includes a collaborative drawing done by all of the students drawing at the same time, Vokis welcoming you to each page and a Wordle of the things each student loves or is passionate about.
In preparation for the Digiteen Project, 8th Grade has been working collaboratively on a variety of activities using various online tools. Cyber-Bullying 8th Grade watched and discussed the film Let's Fight It Together
After watching and discussing the film, students were assigned to one of four groups to look at four examples of real life cyber-bullying and to create a presentation about their example. Students used Google Docs to collaboratively work on their presentations and searched Flickr Creative Commons for photos which would illustrate the message they wanted to convey about their cyber-bullying example. If you wish to see the notes for each slide (which was the students' script for their presentation), click on the Open in New Window link and then use Actions/Show Speaker Notes to see the notes.
Dream Middle School Each student started by creating a document in Microsoft Word listing the things that they would want in their "Dream Middle School" and how the items they wanted would contribute to their education. After the Word documents were complete, students worked collaboratively with 2 other students using TypeWith.Me to combine their dreams into a single list of 3-4 dream items. Finally, all 8th graders worked together with their collaborative lists to make one document in Google Docs of their top 3 items for a "Dream Middle School". In addition to listing the items, they also had to research what those items might cost and here are the results:
International Dot Day 2010 In celebration of International Dot Day on September 15th-ish, 8th Grade listened to The Dot by Peter Reynolds. They then drew their own dot (or dots) using MS Paint. We hope that you enjoy the Middle School Dot Day Gallery!
